Behavioural Interventions

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred framework for providing individualised and comprehensive planning and strategies where there are behaviours of concern. Behaviours are considered of concern if they are persistent and placing the physical safety of an individual or those around them at risk, or where someone does things to hurt themselves, other people, or other things. Positive behaviour support frameworks understand that challenging behaviour occurs for a reason and is used to communicate important information about an individual that they may not otherwise be able to communicate.

Light Coordination and Therapy Services will work with you and your child to develop tailored behavioural assessments, interventions, and support plans to best support your child or young person in any environment, through utilising a Positive Behaviour Support Framework (PBS). From support with a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, a comprehensive behaviour support plan will be developed. This will be utilised to provide training and support around an individuals behaviours of concern, to minimise the risk to themselves and others, and to develop more meaningful relationships with those around them, and with their community.
